The Effect of Stress on Students

Stress has several negative effects on students’ lives. One negative effect of stress on students’ lives is physical health. For example, last week, my roommate, who is studying math class, was stressed having three assignments that must be finished in a day; consequently, he got headaches and didn’t attend a class on Tuesday. Another example, Alex, who is studying psychology, was failed in research result. He spent two nights without sleeping for doing his research in obsessive compulsive disorder in teenagers; as a result, it was vulnerable for him to get fatigued after that. A second negative effect of stress on students’ lives is study performance. For instance, while attending calculus class, my roommate was feeling confused for three times. This thing affected him to have mental block for studying calculus. For this reason, he decided not to attend the next classes in calculus class. Another example, a day after accomplishing his research, Alex attended a human behavior class. He was so stressful; thus, he lost his concentration to pay attention the subject on that day. A third negative effect of stress on students’ lives is erroneous emotion. For example, after dropping his calculus class, my roommate regrets it now, and that is why he is worrying about his academic quarter. Another example, after exhausting week, Alex becomes depressed. He blames for his own self, so he has not been eating for a whole day. In summary, the lives of students can be destructively impacted by stress.
