Waspadalah, Rambu – Rambu Lalu Lintas Ini Ternyata Tidak Diatur Undang-Undang!

Hehehe.
Ketiga, ‘Awas, polisi tidur!’ Aduh, dik…..
Lebih baik kita berlakukan saja show must go on. Jadi, tetap jalan – jalan aja ya….

How to Make Sushi (#Caraaku Version)

After trying several Japanese restaurants in the United States and Indonesia, I've found that sushi, a special hors d'oeuvre (a bite food) from Japan, is inspired from Javanese - Indonesian food. That food is called lemper. That's why my grand grandmother has already made it more than 80 years ago. Here is the proof. [Caraaku]

Ketika Tuhan Kembali Menyapa

Mak jebreett! Mak jleebb! Mak ndhuull....!
Caraaku

Being a Secret Shopper

Mallard is an ice cream store located in 1323 Railroad Ave, Bellingham, Washington, USA. It is a block across the Bellingham Bus Station. Mallard is focusing on selling cream as its main product in food service. Besides, Mallard also sells coffee and souvenirs. Mallard directly serves from its kitchen to customers. There are several chairs provided in its ambient store, so customer can enjoy ice cream either at store or take it away.
On Tuesday, I went to Mallard. That was my countless time coming there. When I entered the entrance, nobody was there. Then, I walked to the ice cream counter at behind corner, immediately a server greeted me while showing pleasant smile and the other two servers were busy to serve other customers. Next, she offered me what kind of ice cream I wanted to. I said that I have tried some different tastes and I wanted to try a new flavor. Jessie, a service provider, soon suggested me two different combinations of almond flavor. I was wondering both of them, but I didn’t know which one I should choose it. For this reason, she suddenly grabbed two spoons of both ice cream and cordially asked me to try those all. Wow, it was intriguing for me. Nevertheless, I didn’t rapidly decide what I wanted to buy. I still asked several questions about the ingredients and she genially answered my entire question in detail. Later, I asked her two other distinctive tastes, and she was still amiable serving me. Eventually, I asked her which one I should try and she said that coconut chocolate chunk with almond with waffle cones was great for me since she knew that I liked coconut. I agreed to purchase it. Furthermore, after paying the ice cream, she even gave me a stamp coupon which could be used to redeem free ice cream by 10 times purchasing.

Pemilih Cerdas Gundulmu…!

Setahu saya, penunjukan JK oleh Jokowi hanyalah 'Just Kidding'.

Celebrating Our Lives by Celebrating Diversity

Attending the 24th Annual Students of Color Conference at Yakima, WA has remarkably blown my mind. In my background, I was raised in a secluded village in Indonesia and lived in several places where I have seen with my own eyes many student brawls and conflicts between sympathizers of different political parties. I also often heard tragic stories of contempt for religion, humiliation and racism. That is why we need to continuously act on behalf of humanity—starting today. For me, the 24th annual Students of Color Conference might be the beginning of actualizing the next actions I should take to promote social justice through creative resistance.
The goal of the Students of Color Conference is to support students attending Washington State community and technical colleges in becoming more active proponents of their own education and life choices, and to expand the opportunities and possibilities for students to become agents of change. Therefore, this conference was guided by five main themes: identity development; awareness of others; skills development; social justice and social activism; and personal development.
Before coming to this conference, I attended the Black and Brown Male Summit, a conference held at Highline Community College that aims to empower and motivate young men of color to excel in academics and seek self-excellence. These experiences have led me to see and appreciate differences among people of the world. Even more so, attending the Students of Color Conference helped me realize that differences should be seen from a perspective of mercy, not conflict or malevolence.
The Theatre of the Oppressed for Social Change facilitated by Shoreline Community College was one of the most touching presentations I’ve ever witnessed. It showcased interactive theatre as a way of exploring issues of privilege, power, and difference. The players demonstrated the role of racism and ethnicity in the relationships between Asians, blacks and whites. There were several participants who demonstrated alternatives to conflict situations. I was impressed by the words from a woman who said: “I know we are different. I respect you, but you are trying to fracture our relationship. Being different might look strange for you. However, if you embrace it, diversity will be a strength for us.”
Overall, the conference activities ran beyond the visible and tangible aspects of culture and ethnicity. A case in point would be the traditional dance and history of our ancestors, and celebrating how those intangible things add to the uniqueness of individuals and strengthen people within the community. As a result, the more we know about diversity, the more we realize that our attitudes will also constructively or destructively affect others. Finally, a quote from one of the keynote speakers, Erin Jones, stuck with me: “It doesn’t matter where you start; it matters where you finish.” I realized what matters most is how well we live, how well we love, and how well we learn to let go. Therefore, let’s celebrate our lives by celebrating our diversity.

Wanna Copy a TV Stuntman?

TV is a powerful force as if it is real. After watching a dangerous and crazy stuntmen show on TV, a boy asked his two friends trying to set him on fire by spraying a certain chemical, but first trial failed. Later, the friends sprayed the boy with lighter-fluid. It also failed. Moreover, the friends sprayed the boy with hair spray. It worked well. The boy caught fire and rolled around then the fire went out. Eventually, they tried the last trick again. Nonetheless, this time the flames would not go out, so that the friends called emergency phone number. The firemen arrived and rescued the boy.  Later, the firemen asked the friends the causes, but the friends lied. Nevertheless, the fireman was feeling suspicious. Therefore, the friends explained the truth a few minutes later. Next, the boy was taken to the hospital. Also, the friends would not be arrested because it was not their mistake. Accordingly, this true story should remind parents and teachers to oversee young people and children understanding TV show and reality in a life.

Fast Food Should be Banned

Fast food has become a prominent issue nowadays. Fast food is said to be the factor leading to many diseases, but fast food industries still increasingly grow in the United States. In response to the factors leading to these diseases, I really believe that fast food should be banned for several reasons. For one thing, fast food should be banned because it contains too high calories in food. The calories are made from soy, fat, sugar, oil, and salt, which cause obesity. The main ingredients in fast food(a burger for example) area pair of buns, fried meat, a slice of cheese, a slice of tomato and a piece of lettuce. There is only a small amount of vegetables and fruits in fast food. In addition, by banning fast food, it will provide higher nutrient value in food. The body needs a number of balanced nutrients such as carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins as well as fats and proteins for the digestive system, but fast food has only a large concentration of fat and protein. The nutrients of fast food are not well-balanced. For instance, a glazed chocolate donut can contain a lot of sugar and fat, even though it also contains small amounts of carbohydrates. Next, as the major contributor of addictive and unhealthy food, fast food needs to be banned. Fast food, which contains synthetic colors and flavors, is very attractive. It is easy to become addicted to fast food. For example, Michael, who works in the biggest mall in New York, orders pizza and French fries almost every day because he likes the color combination in a pizza and the taste in French fries. In the United States, there are 160,000 fast food restaurants(www.statisticbrain.com, 20 April 2013). That number can increase every year because many companies offer franchises around the United States. However, many people maintain that fast food is easy on the pocket. Nonetheless, I believe that cooking healthier food is cheaper than buying fast food. For example, the total cost of roasting a chicken is about $8, but buying a fried chicken at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) costs $11. Therefore, if the federal government banned fast food in this country, many people might try to make healthier food on their own or go to a healthy restaurant. In conclusion, fast food is harmful for the body. Truly, I emphasize fast food should be prohibited by the federal government.

3 Simple Things to be Considered in Business

There are three causes of success in businesses. One of the causes of success in businesses is the unique content of a product. Many companies compete to get customers to buy the same product, so a distinctive content of the same products make people curious. For example, many yellow noodles are sold at supermarket. It will be interesting if businessmen have different colors such as rainbow or traffic-light colors. Another cause of success in businesses is good marketing for each product. Marketing is used to communicate with customers. Without marketing, nobody will know about the business product. For instance, businessmen might advertise the business product through TV or social media. The most significant cause of success in businesses is customer satisfaction. Satisfied customers show that they like the business product, so they will use the business products again and again. In conclusion, by using these three components of success in businesses-the unique content of a product, good marketing for each product, and customer satisfaction-businessmen will get more profit in their businesses.

The Causes of Happiness in My Life

There are three causes of happiness in my life. First of all, I have a good relationship with my family members. I always get in touch with them whenever and wherever I go. For example, I sometimes send a special gift to surprise them. When they receive my special gift, immediately they call me and say thank you. How happy I am because I can make my family happy. Another thing of happiness in my life is I have been working in the biggest hotel for four years. Encountering new people and serving the guests every day is nice job to do. For instance, when a guest asks for help, I will feel happy to help them because I have a passion to do that. The most significant thing of happiness in my life is I have many inspiring friends. My friends and I support each other in many things. For example, when one of my friends failed to pass the exam last month, immediately my friends and I held a group project to help him learn promptly. As a result, he is ready to take the exam again. In conclusion, I really enjoy living in this world - I have a good relationship with my family, I work in my dream job, and I have many inspiring friends.

The Effect of Stress on Students

Stress has several negative effects on students’ lives. One negative effect of stress on students’ lives is physical health. For example, last week, my roommate, who is studying math class, was stressed having three assignments that must be finished in a day; consequently, he got headaches and didn’t attend a class on Tuesday. Another example, Alex, who is studying psychology, was failed in research result. He spent two nights without sleeping for doing his research in obsessive compulsive disorder in teenagers; as a result, it was vulnerable for him to get fatigued after that. A second negative effect of stress on students’ lives is study performance. For instance, while attending calculus class, my roommate was feeling confused for three times. This thing affected him to have mental block for studying calculus. For this reason, he decided not to attend the next classes in calculus class. Another example, a day after accomplishing his research, Alex attended a human behavior class. He was so stressful; thus, he lost his concentration to pay attention the subject on that day. A third negative effect of stress on students’ lives is erroneous emotion. For example, after dropping his calculus class, my roommate regrets it now, and that is why he is worrying about his academic quarter. Another example, after exhausting week, Alex becomes depressed. He blames for his own self, so he has not been eating for a whole day. In summary, the lives of students can be destructively impacted by stress.

First Trip to Seattle

In the first month I lived in the U.S., My friend and I visited Seattle. On that afternoon, we drove a car to get there. We stopped at Ranch Market, Lynnwood to buy some Indonesian spices. We also stopped at Hong Kong Dim Sum Restaurant to have a lunch. However, we had to wait into line for 15 minutes. It was boring. We decided to move at DaVinci’s Pizza, which is located the next block. We had a delicious lunch over there. Soon we continued to Seattle. We arrived at Seattle shortly.
Seattle is the largest city in Washington State. Seattle also has many famous industries in the world such as Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Costco and Starbucks. Recently, many experts predict that Seattle is one of 10 largest growing cities next 10 years in the United States. By visiting Seattle, we hoped that we can enjoy the day in a huge business city in the world. Clearly, we could be happy to visit some places in Seattle.
For one thing, we explored Pike Place Market, which is the largest fish market in Seattle. We bought 8 lbs of fresh salmon fish and 2 lbs of cod fish. There were also many choices to buy such as clothes, toys, bag and any kind of accessories.
For another thing, we also visited the world’s first Starbucks coffee shop. For second time on that day, we had to wait in a long line in front of the store. We tried to be patient. How surprised we were! Apparently, the shop was not as big as our imagination. Before seeing the place, we expected we could enjoy a cup of cappuccino inside because we imagined the old fashioned, antique and classic shop to relax. Unfortunately, drinking inside is not allowed and no chairs are provided.
Last, we visited Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee’s grave, who were our favorite martial artist film stars. It took several minutes to arrive from downtown Seattle. It was not easy to find the exact location. After arriving at the location, we walked and looked for their gravestone. We found that, and we paid our respects to them. We also didn’t forget to take a picture next to the gravestone.

Tilapia Frita - Fried Tilapia, Mexican Food Sensation

Last month, I went to have a dinner at Lorenzo’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant, located at 190 E Bakerview Road, Bellingham, WA. This place had nice atmosphere and unique room setting with decorated permanent chairs. When my friends and I sat down, the server quickly gave menu book. While waiting food, the waiter served us fresh chips with salsa and iced water for free. We ordered tilapia frita and avocado juices. Wow,,, the whole fish was huge and the taste was really yummy. It was served with rice, lime, onion, green pepper and cabbage. What made me surprised? As a seafood lover, I felt like it had Indonesian fried fish sensation and surely it shows the authentic flavor of fish. For me, the price was reasonable.  I would like to recommend this place to all of you.

Reviving the Traditional Skills Event in the U.S.

http://caraaku-caraaku.blogspot.com/ On September 21, 2013, I visited Whatcom Skillshare Faire at Hovander Homestead Park, Ferndale. The event was presented by Transition Whatcom. This event was purposed to provide information and demonstration about skill, crafts, and knowledge, particularly the things that we could traditionally or creatively do by ourselves. The host was welcomed to everybody who was willing to show the skill to other just by signing up beforehand. There were a lot of show over there such as: archery, wood carving, combing and spinning wool, herbal medicine distillation, horse whispering, beekeeping, making goat cheese, making fire from wood, primitive skill medley, and felting soap balls. I learned how to be a hunter by holding archery. It was not easy at the first time, but finally I could shoot the bow to the center of target board. Another thing that I did is combing and spinning wool. Apparently, it was easy to make a wool, but it took long time. I really enjoyed it. Many visitors tried to do what kind of skill they want to know. The most crowded place was making fire from wood friction. It was a young man taught how to make it. My suggestion to Transition Whatcom is to invite more food and beverage seller because the event was held a whole day. I am disappointed when I wanted to have a lunch, I just found three outlets and I didn’t like all of them, so that I had to go outside to find food.

Playing Dirtiness is Good

http://caraaku-caraaku.blogspot.com/ In a crowd of traditional market, a mom and two children were walking together. Incidentally, the two children walked apart from their mom. They both were confused to look for each other. The two children called “ibu” that means “mom” couple times. In the crowd, a man unexpectedly nudged the food that a child brought and it spilled her clothes. However, it even inspired her brother a bright idea. He took off his clothes and write “ibu” on it with the rest chocolate. Then he lifted her sister while her sister was hanging the clothes and yelled “ibu”. Finally, their mom heard and saw that so they could meet again.

This video was advertised 2 years ago in Indonesia. It is about detergent as a cleaning supplies. It has a wise secret that a mother should not worry about children dirtiness. Because of dirtiness, the children even be more creative to reveal the way to find their mom. The video is intended to build costumers awareness and it says that the detergent is very effective to remove sauce or chocolate, just rubbing once, the clothes will become clean like beforehand. In fact, this detergent is one of the most favorite detergent in Indonesia and I also use it.

Have You Paid The Electricity Bill?

http://caraaku-caraaku.blogspot.com/Nowadays, everybody needs electricity power to support their daily needs. Without electricity power, people might not be able to do many jobs. For the households, it just disturbs their daily activities. However, for the industry, it will cause lost of money in their businesses. Therefore, don't forget to pay your electricity bill if you are not willing to be distracted.
